Nendaz is a municipality in the district of Conthey in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. This is usually described by many as a tourist attraction center, that has a lot to offer in the field of Nature study and environmental interests. The high mountains (Alps), and torrent neuf (bisse du torrent neuf) were a couple of sites i personally had interested in.
Around 10;30 am, we set off heading towards Bern. Set off time was delayed, due to rainy and cloudy weather which delayed our 8:30am initial plan.
After an hour and thirty-two minutes we arrived at Lake of Gruyère, where we had some rest and then continued after some pictures were taken.
The lake of Gruyere was beautiful and very big compared to most lakes in Ghana visually.Remarkable events at this stop was when our map attracted a group of American tourists, after our bread had already attracted a flock of birds. At least these birds were not migrating birds, and so were the Americans. The later had such a great travel from Zurich to the lake of Gruyere via Lucerne in a tour bus. Their hospitality, boldness and proudness as Americans, coupled with the kindness, openness and lovely smile of Mrs. Petitjean inspired a group picture of international images at the spot.
We continued our journey to the south, with gospel music in the air and a bright weather, average speed was around 100km/h. And i vigilantly watched out for flash lights.
At about 36mins we parked at the upper part of Montreux and also had a view of Lake Geneva. i could already see scenes from two years ago when i had the opportunity to be here for the first time. For the second time i took time to consider certain details like the water appearance in the summer compared to that of winter.
From Montreux, we continued on the high way to Sion. From Sion we decided to go first to the bisse before settling at Nendaz. Driving to the bisse from the auto bahn was a difficult task but we finally ended at the bisse. (Torrent neuf) around 4:30pm.
The hike along the 5km path from the parking stop first leads through the forest, then at a dizzy height of trees. A tunnel was built in 1934 to replace the Bisse de Savièse. We crossed four suspension bridges, each almost 100m long. There are two bistros on the trail: one at the chapel of St. Marguerite and the other at the end of the path by the hamlet of Brac. The channel hike had virtually no differences in altitude and was best followed all the way from the starting point and back.
It was much fun and interesting to complete the journey for the first time with Mrs. Petitjean, who had never done so before. it was quite wonderful to see such a great work was done in such ealy days with less machinery and not much sophisticated tools.
We arrived at Nendaz around 22:00 in the night.
